About ViaMar

The only way to get to this lagoon is by beach buggy

Pipa has excellent surf

Things to do in Pipa
Surrounding Pipa are seemingly endless sandy beaches in both directions. Each beach has its own characteristics and they offer plenty of adventures. It's almost compulsory for visitors to Pipa to take a trip in a beach buggy; but be careful not to get caught by the tide!

Surfing and kite surfing
Pipa has the best surf in the North Eastern part of Brazil and can accommodate both skilled surfers and total beginners. Surf lessons can be booked on several beaches and you can rent surfboards on the beaches in town. Conditions for paragliding and kite boarding are also excellent here, and Pipa has its own kiting school.

For those devoted to deep sea fishing, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a big one; swordfish, dorado, tuna or barracuda.

If fishing isn't your grand passion, you can still enjoy the sea from one of the tourist boats that offer dolphin trips or you can go on a gastro-cruise for the day. And if you're more interested in preserving nature, help guard the baby ocean turtles on their hazardous walk from the egg to the sea, or swim with wild dolphins in Dolphin Bay.

City life
If you fancy going to the big city, Natal is only an hour away from Pipa. With ca. one million inhabitants, it's the capital of the state Rio Grande do Norte. Here you'll find shopping centres, furniture stores, markets, dentists and doctors, and everything else from tiny kiosks to food hypermarkets so big that the staff moves around on roller blades.

Sports and games
Capoeira is Brazil's national sport. Rooted in the fight against slavery, capoeira a mix between martial arts and dance performed to the rhythm of drums, tambourine and berimbau, a Brazilian string instrument. In Pipa you can enjoy weekly capoeira shows on the town square, and on the beach you'll usually see people practicing capoeira every day. There are also capoeira schools for those who are up for a few back flips. Great fun and excellent exercise!

As well as football, dance is an important part of life in Brazil. You'll frequently come across opportunities to pick up a few moves or sign up for a dance class to really get it down.

There are canoe trips through mangroves, horse back riding, play tennis, go swimming, discover the surrounding areas by motorbike or beach buggy, jog along the beaches, work out in Pipa's gym or slide down the dunes on a sand board.

Relax in style
If all this sounds too exhausting, and what you really want is to do absolutely nothing – you've come to the right place! You can't beat swaying gently in a hammock watching life on the beach while you enjoy a tasty fruit juice or a fresh caipirinha.
